This year I had a little more time to put into making my hubs feel special. Here is what we (Adelyn and I) came up with:

Adelyn wrote a little card to her daddy and I interpreted what she wrote for him. Here is what it said:
"Daddy- Happy Father's Day. I like you a lot. I like when you earthquake me. I like when you sing to me the oh-miss-Adelyn song. I like it when you read me the Wide-Mouthed Frog book in your funny voices. You make me laugh a lot. Thanks for teaching me to blow rasberries on Mommy. It's fun. Most of all, I like to see how much you love Mommy. It makes me want to someday marry a man who loves and respects his wife as much as you do." -Adelyn
What's funny about this card is the story behind making it. I got Adelyn all ready to finger paint for the first time. I taped the paper to the floor, set her on a towel, stripped her down to just a diaper, and gave her some finger paint and showed her how to use it. I was so excited to see what she would do when she discovered she could paint. I overlooked the fact that she would be more interested in EATING the paint than using it. After my multiple attempts to redirect her to the paper, she got mad and started flailing her arms (flinging paint everywhere). As I attempted to calm her down, she wanted me to hold her and climbed up on me and managed to get finger paint all over me, my clothes and in my hair. We were quite the sight. We managed to get a little painting done but most of it was done because I was forcing her hand to touch the paper rather than go in her mouth. Not quite the vision I had in mind for the first finger painting experience. Either way, Austin got a good card out of it.
In addition to a special card, I took Rachel's Father's Day Gift Recommendations and got Austin a lap stand for his ipad. He's always trying to find ways to prop it up on a pillow so I thought he would like it. I was right! Austin's only request for Father's Day was Imo's Pizza and for me to watch a basketball documentary with him. I'm thankful he's a simple man.
Towards the end of the day, Adelyn was playing in her play room when I came around the corner to see this:

It gave us a good chuckle.
Happy Father's Day.
