Fun on the Fourth

We just got back from a four day eating-swimming-waverunner riding-eating-boating-black berry picking-sweating-shopping-napping-eating week at the lake. Being back home at the lake never fails to make me happy. I'm learning the same is true for little Adelyn too. Despite the ridiculously hot weather, we managed to be outside quite a bit! Good thing my parents have a lake in their backyard to cool off in. In fact, the weekend was kicked off by Austin pushing me into the lake-fully clothed! What a loving gesture, huh? Don't worry, he jumped in soon after.

Here are a few snapshots from the week:

Even though Adelyn didn't get to stay up to see the fireworks, she was festive in her attire. (Check out Thriving Home in a few days to see the tutorial on how I made this onesie!)

Favorite toy at grandma's house? The huge bin of old McDonalds toys. This girl loved to unpack this and explore (and taste) every toy that came out. It was cute.

Oh, those eyes are going to get her in trouble some day!!!

My dad has a HUGE garden. We're talking, HUGE. I keep telling my parents that if there is a world wide famine, I'm moving in with them because we could all survive for years with all the stored up food they have. I digress. Anyway- my dad did a little potato harvesting while we were there. And when I say little, I mean this:

He got himself all set up to do a bunch of potato peeling...

Well, my little eager-beaver-baby couldn't stand to stay back and watch it all happen without getting getting those busy little hands involved. She found it necessary to dig out all of those peeled potatoes and spread them around the floor.

She also gave most of them a taste test to make sure they were ok.

Speaking of eating, Adelyn was a little hog down there. She was eating pretty much anything that was handed to her. Here is Adelyn dominating a fresh peach. We found out pretty fast that this was an "outside activity."

And what would 4th of July weekend be without some serious grilling??

Yum yum!

Lastly, I thought this was a cute thing to mention. Here is a product of my crafting from 22 years ago:

Not a ton has changed!
